Cheetah Outreach is a conservation and education project on De Beers Avenue in Somerset West. Its aim is to help the free-ranging South African cheetah survive.
Start with the short guided tour, which introduces the cheetahs and the challenges they face. You'll also hear about the project's Anatolian shepherd dogs, which are placed with farmers to guard livestock, so predators are protected instead of persecuted.
Cheetahs aren't the only residents. You can also meet caracal, servals, jackal, meerkats and bat-eared foxes. If you'd like to get close to the fastest land animal on earth, cheetah encounters are available as an optional extra.
It's a good fit for families and animal lovers, and it's a short drive from Strand. Encounters and opening hours can change, so check ahead before you set off.
